Gliffaes Country House Hotel

November 10, 2017 By Valerie Davies

9th November 2017

Today we went on a guided walk in the beautiful grounds of Gliffaes Country House Hotel. It is full of specimen trees dating back hundreds of years. The weather was really kind and there was still a lot of autumnal colour in the leaves. We then had lunch in the restaurant which has magnificent views of the River Usk below.

You are able to walk around the grounds and maybe finish with a drink in the condervatory or treat yourselves to a lunch. You will not be disappointed.

Peterstone Court

10th May 2017

Peterstone Court Brecon

Today we had a very pleasant lunch at Peterstone Court just a short ride from the coach house. The terrace on a sunny day is a great place for drinks and a view of the Brecon Beacons.

They also have an outdoor swimming pool and spa where you can buy various packages including lunch.

It is a beautiful old country house set in picturesque grounds. They offer a special fixed price lunch time menu and a Wednesday steak night.

The New Inn Bwlch

March 18, 2017 By Valerie Davies

18th March 2017

New Inn BwlchThe New Inn Bwlch has just won Brecknockshire CAMRA pub of the year 2017. They serve good value home cooked meals in very pleasant surroundings. They only took over the premises a couple of years ago and have steadily built up a reputation for good food and beer. The Sunday lunch is particularly good but you might well need to book especially as word gets round about their award.

The George Hotel

February 27, 2017 By Valerie Davies

27th February 2017

The George Hotel

Today we had lunch in the newly re-opened The George Hotel in Brecon . It was bought by JD Weatherspoon and they have transformed the inside. It is very early days but the food was good value and the interior is pleasant and no musac playing. They have guest draft real ales and ciders which met with approval and I was able to have filter coffee on free refills. Yes it is a chain but we do not have many in the area and should fit in well with all the other eating styles on offer.

Brecon Tap

December 12, 2016 By Valerie Davies

12th December 2016

brecon-tap

Today I had a pleasant lunch in the Brecon Tap

This is a local brewery that has opened a bar serving their own beers, homemade pies and nightly specials. It has casual comfy seating as well as stools at the bar. The sandwiches were tasty and fresh  served on some very good granary bread. Ideal spot to have a light lunch and coffee in Brecon. It is situated just opposite the Wellington memorial.
