The Old Black Lion

The best food to be found in Hay on Wye is The Old Black Lion. It is also one of the oldest pubs in the town offering award winning food and drink.

In 2023 it has won the National Pub & Bar Award County Winners for Powys. Also 2023 Good Food Award Winner. Finally they are also the proud holders of two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence.

The Menu

The restaurant is open 6 days a week for lunch and dinner and on Sunday for the Welsh tradition of a roast lunch. Not many restaurants in our area are open seven days a week especially in the winter. This is a testiment to how popular the pub is.

You can eat in the bar area complete with beams and dried hops or the seperate dining area. There is a good atmosphere which ever you choose. The service is also excellent and efficient.
